Prayer Shawl Ministry submitted by Ann Caison

Sharon’s Prayer Shawl Ministry began in 2008, led by Mrs. Pat Masker, who has done an outstanding job. About 200 shawls and lap blankets are distributed each year, including Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Liberty Home Care. Preemie baby blankets and hats are also lovingly created and donated to Novant Brunswick Hospital and the NIC Unit at New Hanover Medical Center. Infants that are receive a white blanket when they are baptised at Sharon UMC. We’ve also made hats and scarves for the homeless at shelters in Wilmington and Brunswick County’s Street Reach Ministry.

What a reward and great feeling to hear from someone who has received one of our shawls or lap blankets! If you would like one for someone who is sick, please see one of our members: Ann Caison (842-6255), Geradine Elliott, Jan Davis, Pat Masker, Verlie Jerigan or Debbie Sellers. We welcome new members and always appreciate the generous yarn and monetary donations for supplies. Join us Thursdays at 1:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall!
