KING’S KIDS DRAWS TO A CLOSE

After a wonderful year, the King’s Kids program had it’s last meeting on Wednesday, May 15.

The children enjoyed ice cream sundaes, practicing a hymn they will sing at this Sunday’s 11am service,

and taking aim at a big piñata full of goodies.

HELP WANTED SHARON UMC CHICKEN LUNCH/DINNER

Our CHICKEN lunch/dinner is scheduled for May 17, 2013 and many people are needed to make this event a success. Our goal is to serve 500 – 600 meals; this requires a lot of support from our members/friends. We need people to package and deliver meals for lunch, cook chicken, package cole slaw and desserts, and cook green beans. We also need individuals to wash dishes and cleanup the Social Hall when we finish working for the dinner. This event is part of our overall Fall Bazaar and is an ideal way to meet your neighbors and make friends. Drop this tear off in the offering plate if you’re willing to help.

Bazaar 2013 Update

BAZAAR EVENT SCHEDULE FOR 2013 bazaar_5056c 2

On the evening of 2/21/13 the Bazaar Oversight Committee met to develop the Bazaar Events schedule for 2013. As the schedule for Sharon, a very active church, was being developed it was apparent that it was going to be difficult to schedule activities related to the annual bazaar. This schedule is being provided so you can place these dates on your calendar and you can start telling your friends the plan for 2013. These events are great opportunities for you to work with and get to know the members of Sharon. We hope you find a place you feel comfortable working for this year’s Bazaar.

The event schedule currently planned is as follows:

Spring Yard Sale — March 22/23 Completed – A big success!

Chicken Dinner — March 22 Completed – Another success!

Chicken Dinner –  May 17

Live Auction & BBQ Dinner — October 19

BazaarOctober 25/26Yard Sale, Crafts, Silent Auction, Bake Sale, Breakfast, Soup, Hot Dog/BBQ Sandwiches

The Bazaar Oversight Committee continues to meet periodically to discuss this major fundraising function at Sharon; these various events have been very successful for many years. We need to work hard to continue the success of all these events. The committee is starting to recruit individuals to lead these various areas. Open your heart to accept the various positions needed to make these major events a success. Thank you!

Missions and Outreach

The Missions and Outreach crew had the most blessed week in February feeding and housing the less fortunate of out area. Many people were fed, given coats, blankets, food and toiletries. The Fellowship Hall was filled with great fellowship and God’s love nightly. We would like to thank New Life Christian Fellowship, Holden Beach Chapel, Peace Memorial Baptist and Building Hope Ministries for the food and support A great big thank you to all the wonderful volunteers that helped out through out the week. Two of our guests rededicated their lives to the Lord on Wednesday night. Praise Him!! We were able to make a real difference in the lives of a few people, even for just a week. To God be the glory. The Missions Crew has signed up to host 2 weeks next season, with one week in November and another in February.
Our future plans are to host an informational luncheon for other area churches to increase awareness of the homeless problem in Brunswick County as well as give information on the church host sight program through Streetreach.
