KING’S KIDS DRAWS TO A CLOSE

After a wonderful year, the King’s Kids program had it’s last meeting on Wednesday, May 15.

The children enjoyed ice cream sundaes, practicing a hymn they will sing at this Sunday’s 11am service,

and taking aim at a big piñata full of goodies.

Once again, the success of this outstanding ministry is a direct result of the faithfulness of the adult volunteers.

Thank you for all your hard work and love of the children. Seeds of faith have been planted because of your efforts.

The adult/youth workers are:

Sunday, May 19, at 6PM, we will have a planning meeting for this year’s Vacation Bible School.

If you would like to volunteer, please plan on attending this meeting or see Jennifer Hewett.

Our VBS will be June 23-27. This year’s theme is “It’s A FROG Life”.

Durham Bulls Game

The Recreation Committee is sponsoring a trip to see the Durham Bulls play the Scranton/WB Railriders on Monday, June 3, in Durham. The Railriders are part of the New York Yankees farm system. The game begins at 1:05 pm so the group will leave at 9:00 am that morning.

We will be ordering tickets on Wednesday, May 22. If you are interested, please call the church office at 842-2929 or see Eddie Flinchum, Cost of the tickets are $9.

King’s Kids News

The King’s Kids have been busy. Last week we were all invited to Mankin’s for corndogs, hotdogs, chicken fingers, French fries and drinks. Miss Frances and Miss Shannon treat us to a delicious meal every year and we are all blessed to spend time with them. To show our appreciation, we sang songs, said prayers and gave them a new picture of us for their wall. If you haven’t been to Mankin’s check it out, enjoy some great food and see the King’s Kids wall of fame.

This past week, the King’s Kids enjoyed an afternoon of strawberry picking at Holden Brothers Farm. They gave us a strawberry sticker, rode us to the picking area on a farm wagon, and let us fill our baskets to the top with beautiful red strawberries.

Some of us couldn’t resist popping a few in our mouths as we went. Once more we were blessed by the goodness of the folks at Holden’s, by the gorgeous day, and by God’s bounty.

Next week is our last meeting for this school year. We will celebrate a wonderful year with an ice cream sundae party.

Fried Chicken Lunch/Dinner

HELP WANTED SHARON UMC CHICKEN LUNCH/DINNER

Our CHICKEN lunch/dinner is scheduled for May 17, 2013 and many people are needed to make this event a success. Our goal is to serve 500 – 600 meals; this requires a lot of support from our members/friends. We need people to package and deliver meals for lunch, cook chicken, package cole slaw and desserts, and cook green beans. We also need individuals to wash dishes and cleanup the Social Hall when we finish working for the dinner. This event is part of our overall Fall Bazaar and is an ideal way to meet your neighbors and make friends. Drop this tear off in the offering plate if you’re willing to help.

Bazaar Opportunity

The Bazaar Committee has started recruiting leaders for various leadership positions for the Fall Bazaar. Our most urgent need at this time is for someone to lead the Homemade Goods (Crafts) area. There are many supplies available as well as monies to buy other supplies. There are many talented Craft individuals in the church to call on and also opportunity to have numerous workshops during the daytime or at night. Please step forward as this an important booth in our church’s bazaar.
