Welcome to the Shake It Up Cafe Vacation Bible School 2011
June 20-24, 2011
6-8:30 pm – Dinner served to Participants and Volunteers Monday through Thursday evenings, beginning at 6pm

Mission: Food Bank – Please bring at least one non-perishable food item each night. We will have a friendly boys vs girls competition to fill the shelves of the local food pantries! Who will be the winner?

Participants:

Online registration is closed, however, you can register your child(ren) in person when you bring them. If you are not pre-registered, please arrive 10-15 minutes early to fill out the registration form.

Anyone rising into 9th grade in the 2011-12 school year or older are invited to be volunteers at this year’s VBS: Shake It Up Cafe event. There are many opportunities for volunteers of all ages and skill level.

Senior Lunch Bunch

The Senior Lunch Bunch will meet on Sept 15 at 12 noon in the fellowship hall at the church. We will be having Hotdogs. Please bring a side dish like slaw ,potato chips , chopped onions , baked beans ,drinks or a dessert…We will be forming a nominating committee to select officers for 2011 ,so plan on trying to be there .We will also be looking at things to do for our Dec meeting… I look forward to seeing you on Sept 15 at 12 noon.

Now that summer is over and school has resumed, we would like to remind the youth of the church that our weekly youth meetings take place each Wednesday night from 5:30-7PM. We are in the process of designing a new youth t-shirt, as well as coming up with a name for the group. Please give any suggestions or designs to Gail or drop them off at the church office. The UMYouth Fellowship is for youth in grades 6-12.

King’s Kids

Sharon’s King’s Kids is set to resume Wednesday, September 8. The King’s Kids program is for children in grades K-5 and meets each Wednesday from 3:30-5:15, with the church providing pick up at the three area elementary schools. Because of the King’s Kids expected participation in Sharon’s worship, we asked that parents or guardians make a covenant with the church to have the King’s Kids in worship on a regular basis. If you are interested in your child participating in the King’s Kids, please take a form and if at all possible complete it this morning and return it to the church office.

TNG Activities

The Next Generation is traveling on Saturday, May 15 to Tryon Palace in New Bern, NC.
Admission: Adults $12 and Students (Grades 1 – 12) $5.

We will depart Sharon UMC at 7:15am and arrive in New Bern at 10:15am. Pack your lunch; New Bern has a beautiful park/picnic area surrounded by the Neuse and Trent Rivers. We’ll return to SUMC about 8pm. Please email dbwicker@bccowa.com or call 842-1568 to let Danielle to reserve your spot!

Saturday, June 19 the Fort Fisher Aquarium – Canoeing the Salt Marsh.
Aquarium Admission: Adults $6.80, Ages 6-17 $5.10 and 5 and under Free and Canoeing is and additional $25 for ages 8 and up. Please let Danielle know if you are interested.

Lake Junaluska Conference&Retreat Center – Wildwater Rafting.
ATTN TNG: If you are interested in this outing, please let Danielle know ASAP: July 12th – 14th or July 16th – 18 or July 30th – Aug. 1 (whichever date has most sign-up): $100 per person, includes: 2 nights lodging at Lake Junaluska, 2 breakfasts, 1 lunch, outdoor BBQ dinner after rafting adventure, a half-day rafting adventure on the Pigeon River and climbing wall activities.
