Our Advent Season begins with our annual Lovefeast on Sunday, November 30, at 7PM. What better way to start the preparation of the coming of the Christ child than to gather with church family and friends, singing traditional Christmas hymns and celebrating the gift of God’s love.
Our church’s Christmas cantata will be Sunday, December 14, at 7PM. The dress rehearsal is Saturday, December 13, at 10AM.
Our children’s Christmas program holds practices during Children’s Church and on Wednesdays during Kings Kids. There is still time for your child to be involved. Along with the play, there will be a nativity scene where we need children. Please contact the church office if you are interested in having your child involved. The tentative date of the program is Wednesday, December 17.
The Children’s Christmas program will be this Wednesday, December 17 at 6pm. Please join us for a joyful evening.
The Introduction to United Methodism class had an introductory meeting on Monday, October 13 at 6:00 pm. The class is open to new members, long-time members, and any one in between who is interested in learning more about the history of the United Methodist Church, the doctrines and traditions of the UMC, and how we live and worship as United Methodist Christians. We will use the guide, “Living As United Methodist Christians” by Andy and Sally Langford. The class is taught by Kelli Kosuda Tingen, and meets in the office conference room. Please call the church office for future dates and times.
If you are shopping online, you could be donating to “Sharon Holden Beach”.
All the church purchases from Office Depot, Amazon etc. are purchased through www.umcmarket.org and a percentage is then donated to the church. Are you doing your part? If you need more info or some assistance see below, or call the church office.

“ Lord, I love the house where you dwell, the place where your glory resides” Psalm 26
The Tree of Life was purchased to assist in building the new facilities 5 years ago. Over the past 5 years we have slowly been selling some leaves, acorns and stones.
These items can be given in memory or honor of individuals and are a positive when it comes to the finances of Sharon UMC.
The church office has a folder pertaining to the Tree of Life. Please consider donating to fill up the empty spaces on the tree. There are 88 open spaces for leaves and many for acorns and stones.
Help support your church and acknowledge those in your life that you wish to honor or memorialize.
If you have questions you can reach me at 910-233-9900.
Thank you, Ron Wilson.

Congregational Care Ministers Training
“So we cared for you. Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the Gospel of God but our lives as well.” -1 Thessalonians 2:8
What a blessing and learning experience to attend the Congregational Care Ministers Training recently.
Congregational Care Ministers, or CCMs, are Lay Ministers who work alongside our pastor to provide care for their church family. CCMs are selected or volunteer to participate in this care ministry because of their gifts and graces in compassion, encouragement and organization. Our experience in this training gives us the opportunity and privilege to develop these gifts, for through you, God has the opportunity to transform countless lives.
In our Sharon CCM training, you will be equipped with the tools necessary for providing this ministry to our church family. It is an honor to serve in shepherding roles to build a good team. CCM is a ministry of Head, Heart, and Hands:
Head: modeling after Christ who is our Head, to lead
Heart: a calling in response to gifts and graces to know and love people and to trust the Holy Spirit
Hands: follow people in need in care on behalf of the Church with compassion, active listening, scripture and theological reflection
This important ministry can work here at Sharon with your help and commitment. You will be asked to fill out a CCM application and then the Teaching Team will interview each person that wants to participate as a CCM. We heard many stories of how CCMs made differences in many lives and how the CCMs committed to caring for them.
We prayerfully ask that you consider this training. We hope to have our first commissioning of our first CCMs on June 8, Pentecost Sunday.
Interested individuals are asked to respond to the church office (842-2929 or email@example.com) if you plan to attend the first training on Thursday, May 22, 7-9pm.
“Do all the good you can,
By all the means you can,
In all the ways you can,
In all the places you can,
To all the people you can,
As long as ever you can.”
– John Wesley
The Missions Crew is blessed to report that the Rose of Sharon has been selected as the recipient of the North Carolina United Methodist Conference Mission Seed Fund Grant. We plan to do much needed repairs to the property. In accepting the funds, we are required to abide by audit requirements as specified by the UM Book of Discipline.
The Conference Mission Team may be contacting us to see our ministry, hear our story, and offer assistance where needed.
Thanks to all of you who have given so much in so many ways to help us come this far, but, most of all, we thank our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for all of these great blessings!
