SERVE
There's never a dull moment around here. And when we're building relationships with Jesus and one another, it's natural for our deep desire to show others the love of Christ we've experienced to overflow into serving those around us.
Serving Our Church
Part of being a family is jumping in to do our part. There are many parts to serving, and it includes nurturing and serving our church family, as well as reaching out to the community and world around us.
We serve on T.E.A.M.s at Sharon Methodist Church - focused on
Totally
Engaging
Authentic
Ministry.
We’re interested in being difference-makers.
Church Family T.E.A.M
At Sharon we want to meet the many needs among our congregation, including providing outside resources when necessary. We work to develop relationships and to coordinate efforts with other teams as needed to support ministry areas for family life.
Worship T.E.A.M
The Worship T.E.A.M.’s primary goal is to ensure that our worship experience at Sharon is meaningful, purposeful, and engaging. And that takes an army of joyful volunteers to make that happen!
Family Ministries T.E.A.M
Whether in times of celebration or struggle, we want to be prayerfully by your side through your journey.
We strive to provide meals, transportation, care, and hospitality at local hospitals, Hospice centers, and nursing homes, and to pray, share scripture, and encourage those in need as much as possible.
To accomplish this, you must call the church office to communicate your needs and not rely on social media, word of mouth, or telling a team member on the way out of the church.
Let us hear from you.
Serving Our Community
Those seeking a way to plug in and make a difference in our local community and district should connect with our
Missions & Outreach T.E.A.M.
The Rose of Sharon - ThrifT Store
The Rose of Sharon Thrift Store, staffed with Sharon volunteers and located on the east side of our campus (2060 Holden Beach Rd), is one of the key projects of Sharon Methodist Church's Missions & Outreach efforts in our community. It not only funds various missions throughout the year, but also helps many people in the Holden Beach area and region in times of need. The store accepts donations on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10:00 AM -1:00 PM, Tuesday-Friday, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM, or by appointment (910-842-9130).
Know someone in need? Want to volunteer? Contact the church office.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Join our team on Thursday at 1:00 PM.
The prayer shawl ministry started in 2008, this has been a profound ministry, which started with a thought that led to a conversation, which led to love in action. The ministry has provided hundreds and hundreds of handmade shawls, lap blankets, scarves, hats, and preemie baby blankets and caps through the years to area and regional Hospice centers, hospitals, NICUs, assisted living facilities, and homeless shelters. All of these have been lovingly created and prayed over on our altar. Infants baptized at Sharon Methodist Church also receive a beautiful homemade white blanket.
Generous yarn and monetary donations for supplies are appreciated!
Neighbor-to-Neighbor Food Pantry
We invite everyone to participate in making a real difference in our local community by bringing a can of non-perishable food to the church and placing it in one of the mini red grocery carts located at the car-port entrance.
Vacation Bible School - VBS
If you ever experienced VBS as a kid, then you know how much summer fun it is for youngsters. If you never participated, you still have the opportunity – as a volunteer! Call the church office to volunteer in an area for this year’s VBS.
Addition Areas to Serve
Throughout the year and with seasonal fundraisers, Sharon Methodist Church supports other ministries such as Methodist Homes for Children, the Waccamaw Boys and Girls Home, and outreaches to those without shelter locally and in Wilmington.
